Channel 4 in discussions to broadcast Ramadan prayers

British broadcaster Channel 4 is planning to broadcast morning prayers as part of a series of programs marking Ramadan.

A spokesman told The UKAsian that the channel was in discussions with Muslim organizations about the format of the prayers.

Other programs will include one featuring British Muslims discussing the spiritual and physiological benefits of fasting and a film titled "Do You Speak English?"; about the more than one million immigrants in the UK who cannot speak English.

Channel 4 CEO Jay Hunt said: "This is something no other channel will do.  The programming will include hearing from a range of British Muslims on how they cope with daily life during Ramadan and the physical and spiritual effects of fasting - as well as marking daily early-morning prayers."
