Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is set to join singers Madonna, Beyonce and a host of other international stars for a charity concert in London aimed at raising awareness for women's rights around the world.
Rai-Bachchan, who is currently at the Cannes Film Festival with her family, will be a presenter on the Sound of Change Live concert organized by the Chime for Change movement, according to reports.
Accompanied by husband Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya will join a galaxy of international stars presenting the concert, including fellow Indian actress Frieda Pinto, James Franco, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Zoe Saldana and Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
The concert will take place at South London's Twickenham Stadium and will feature performances by Jay Z, Jennifer Lopez, Ellie Goulding, Timbaland and Rita Ora.
“I am really happy that so many amazing artists and presenters have come together to support Chime For Change. Our goal is to have a great time together while we unite and strengthen the voices of girls and women around the world,” said concert director Beyonce.
Madonna added: “Sixty per cent of the children in the world not in school are girls! Two-thirds of the world’s illiterate are women! I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this.”
The concert aims to fund more than 120 projects supporting girls and women globally with ticket holders choosing which specific project they would like to support.
Chime for Change is a global charity initiative co-founded by Beyonce, Frida Giannini, creative director of Guccicand actress Salma Hayek, wife of Francois Pinault, Chairman of luxury goods conglomerate PPR, parent company of Gucci.
