Champion Mo gets a generous helping hand

He may have enthralled the nation with his double gold medal win and is perhaps tiring himself out after the arrival of his twin daughters, but it doesn't look like long-distance legend Mo Farah is sitting on his laurels.

The champion athlete's Mo Farah Foundation raises funds to help the hundreds of thousands affected by the crippling drought that has scorched parts of the Horn of Africa in recent years.

The foundation - set up by Mo and his wife Tania - received a boost recently courtesy of British Asian businessman, socialite and man-about-town Kaser Mehmood, founder of KZ Entertainment.

Mr Mehmood, promoter of Bollywood-related entertainment events in the UK and Gulf region, is now calling on other businesses to weigh in on a problem that has been routinely pushed to the fringes of the global agenda.

“Although Mo has become a hero for millions after his stunning win at the London Olympics, I feel the most heroic thing he is doing is the life saving work in East Africa. I am happy to endorse the charity and would urge others to do the same. Mo is a champion and a big hearted individual who is saving lives,” said Kaser.

The Mo Farah Foundation works with local communities to provide family food baskets as well as safe drinking water and sanitation facilities through a variety of projects, including the installing of water wells and building new water supply systems.
