Tamil megastar Rajinikanth is back and how!
The trailer for the actor's new motion-capture extravaganza 'Kochadaiyaan' was released Monday and depicts the legend in a whole new light; slim, toned, much younger than his 62 years and sporting his famous bouffant.
Whilst the film is based on an ancient Pandyan epic, Rajinikanth is clearly the star and biggest selling point of the lavish, $19 million production; the most expensive film ever to come out of India.
"There are heroes, there are superheroes but there is only one Rajinikanth", the trailer begins, before depicting the actor in his numerous avatars - Rajinikanth plays three separate characters - riding on a horse, engaging in a sword battle and displaying his famous swagger in a song-and-dance number.
'Kochadaiyaan' is the first ever Indian film to be shot entirely in Motion-Capture 3D technology, the same wizardry used in the likes of 'Avatar' and 'Tin Tin'.
The film stars an A-List cast from across India's numerous local film industries, including Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, R Sarathkumar and Rukmini, among others.
The behind-the-screens talent is equally impressive with A R Rahman composing and Soundarya Ashwain - Rajinikanth's' youngest daughter - directing.
It all points to the film - set for release this December - storming past Chennai Express to become the biggest-ever Indian blockbuster.
