The year of ‘Educating the Indian Girl Child’ is set to continue after Freida Pinto was drafted-in to host a prestigious pre-Oscar party raising funds for female education.
The Slumdog Millionaire star has reportedly accepted an invitation to host a segment of the week-long Campaign Hollywood event organized by Vanity Fair magazine.
The event is one of the most sought-after in Los Angeles in the run-up to the Academy Awards and also marks the 100th anniversary of the acclaimed publication.
Pinto’s segment is called ‘DJ Night with Freida Pinto and Vanity Fair’ with proceeds from the night going towards educating girls around the world through film and social media advocacy.
The actress has recently busied herself in the name of the Girl Child; in January Pinto appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, introducing the trailer of the film ‘Girl Rising’, which follows the fortunes of 9 schoolgirls in developing countries around the world.
Pinto was also recently named global ambassador for Plan Internationals ‘Because I Am a Girl’ campaign, focusing on education for girls.
The 85th Academy Awards will be held Sunday 24th February.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
