The Chief Executive Officer of one of India's largest technology outsourcing service providers has been sacked over claims of sexual harrassment.
Phaneesh Murthy, CEO of iGate Corporation and one of the most respected executives in the sector was fired from his post after sexual harassment claims brought by a subordinate, Araceli Rioz.
iGate Corporation, which is listed on the US tech bourse NASDAQ, is a provider technology services to some of the world's largest companies, including Hewlett Packard, General Electric and Disney.
The company has appointed Gerhard Waltzinger as interim Chief Executive.
This is not the first time Mr Murthy has been embroiled in a sexual harassment case.
In 2002, he was forced to resign from Infosys - where he was head of Global Sales - after his executive secretary Reka Maximovitch complained of sexual harassment and wrongful termination of employment, claims that were settled out of court by Infosys for $3 million.
Mr Murthy says the latest allegations are a case of "extortion". He has admitted to having an affair with Ms Rioz but denies harassment.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
