Jennifer Lopez was dropped from the opening ceremony of the upcoming Indian Premier League after organizers rejected her "outrageous diva" demands.
The singer's manager Benny Medina reportedly asked organizers to make a private plane available to the 43-year-old and pay for luxury hotel suites for her extensive entourage, including a personal chef and numerous stylists.
Industry insiders say Lopez has missed a golden opportunity to perform in front of more than 60 million people in one of the world's most watched TV events.
One source told the New York Post: 'She effectively priced herself out of the event. It was an idiotic move because the audience for this event is huge. It’s like the Super Bowl halftime show.'
Last year Katy Perry, resplendent in a suitably Bollywood-inspired costume, performed alongside stars including Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra Kareena Kapoor and south Indian dance legend Prabhu Deva during a ceremony watched more than 56 million people.
Lopez has repeatedly been accused for her diva-esque demands.
In 2010, Lopez was rumoured to putting her American Idol deal in jeopardy because of her 'unreasonable demands' after asking for more than $20 million year atop a personal hair stylist, make-up artist and not just a dressing room but a 'dressing room compound'.
Lopez also reportedly asked for nine dressing rooms for her 90-strong entourage ahead of an interview with the BBC.
The NY Post reported that before filming a video for African AIDS victims, she had requested for a 45ft trailer, white lilies, yellow roses with a red trim and apple pie.
Organizers of Tuesday's IPL 6 opening ceremony have booked rapper Pitbull who is set to perform alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone among others.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
