The family of British-Indian starlet Jiah Khan, who committed suicide in June, has demanded that her body be exhumed for investigation after new evidence came to light suggesting her death may have been a “homicidal hanging”.
According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror police allegedly “ignored” a forensic report which said that “fragments of human skin” had been found under Jiah’s fingernails and “bloodstains in her underwear”, suggesting that she may have been involved in a struggle prior to her death.
The report was compiled by Dr R K Sharma, the former head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), who also said that the findings suggest Jiah’s death had been a “homicidal hanging”.
The body of the 25-year-old actress was found by her mother and sister inside her apartment in Juhu in the late hours of 3 June.
Jiah’s mother Rabya Amin has maintained that her daughter “had no reason to take her own life” and had been murdered.
She has alleged that the initial investigation by Mumbai police had been “shabby” and “biased” for the benefit of the family of Sooraj Pancholi – son of Bollywood star Aditya Pancholi – who had been involved in a troubled relationship with the ‘Nishabdh’ star.
In October Ms Amin filed a petition at the Mumbai High Court seeking a fresh inquiry of the original police investigation by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to the Mumbai Mirror report, Rabia has now demanded that her daughter’s body be exhumed and re-examined.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
