Meet CHAKRA: Stan Lee's first Indian superhero

Spider Man creator Stan Lee has announced his first ever Indian superhero.

Lee's sub-continental hero 'Chakra' continues the legendary comics creator's fascination with dual identities: the character is a young boy named Raju Rai who dons a suit created by his mentor, scientist Dr Singh, which transforms him into a superhero by drawing on the life force of the seven Chakra's of the body as mentioned in Hindu mythology.

'Chakra' will feature in a new movie that Lee is co-producing with Graphic India and Cartoon Network in India.

“I am incredibly excited as we launch this great new, thrill-a-minute superhero saga named ‘Chakra: The Invincible’,” Lee said in a statement.

“The incredible story of Chakra, one of my latest and most exciting superhero creations promises to captivate audiences in India and around the world with his adventures,” he added.

The Chakra character was developed jointly by Lee and acclaimed Indian comic artist Jeevan J. Kang, who was previously responsible for developing the Spider Man: India comic.

Graphic India will also be launching the character in a series of digital and print comic books and graphic novels as well as Chakra merchandise.
