The Raghu Dixit Project won Best Alternative Act at this year's Lebara Mobile Asian Music Awards, held at Wembley Arena October 25th.
The award was the culmination of a terrific year for the band in the UK.
This summer the Project concluded a hugely successful tour of Britain, including performing at some of the biggest music festivals in the country, an appearance at the TED conference in Scotland, performing on The Andrew Marr Show as well as a critically acclaimed collaboration with English folk music band Bellowhead at the 'Alchemy' Arts Festival at the Southbank.
In a message posted on his Facebook page, Raghu said he was thrilled and thanked his fast-growing fan base in the UK : "Thanks to each and every fan who stood by us, supported and voted for us. This award goes to each and everyone of you. This is just the beginning!!"
Among the other winners at the Awards were MIA and Jay Sean, who was presented with the Best British Artist of the Decade award.
Pakistani legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took home three awards for Best Selling Download, Best International Act and Best International Act of the Decade.
Preeya Kalidas won for Best Female Act, Best Urban Act went to Arjun whilst Punjabi sensation Yo Yo Honey Singh won Best International Album for 'International Villager'.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
