#RAMLEELA: Bhansali epic given green light after court admits to "OVERSIGHT". Title Changed.

The Delhi court, which ordered director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to hold the 15 November release of his eagerly anticipated romantic epic ‘Ram Leela’, has overturned the decision saying it was a “mistake”.

Additional District Court judge on Tuesday barred Bhansali and producers Eros International from releasing the film after an NGO claimed the film was offending “Hindu Sentiments”.

The judge however, recalled the order saying lawyers for the plaintiffs did not inform him that the Delhi High Court had earlier refused to ban the movie had not informed him.

Lawyers for Eros pointed out that the High Court had also imposed costs of Rs 50,000 on the NGO which had made the initial petition saying the word 'Ram Leela' is associated with Lord Rama and people would also watch this movie with an expectation that it would be related to his life but the film will hurt their sentiments.

The film, purported to be an adaptation of Romeo and Julie and set in colourful Rajasthan, will now be called Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela.

This is the second time the film’s name has been changed after a previous adjustment from ‘Ramleela’ to ‘Ram-Leela’.

The district court order on Tuesday followed a petition filed by six petitioners, including the campaign group Prabhu Samaj Dharmik Ram Leela Committee.

The Committee said that the film – with its dance numbers and promised lip-locks between stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone – will have “nothing to do with the mythological Hindu figures alluded to in the title.

Several reports say the director Bhansali has had to make several cuts to the movie, including taking away those eagerly anticipated kisses between the two leads who are apparently an item in real life as well.

At least according to Ranveer.
