#Remembered: London memorial service for tragic British-Indian starlet Jiah Khan

Tragic British-Indian actress Jiah Khan will be remembered at a special memorial service in London on Tuesday, a year after the 25-year-old beauty was found hanged at her Mumbai apartment.

Friends, family and fans of the actress will gather at the Chelsea Town Hall for the service which will be led by her mother Rabiya Amin, who has campaigned tirelessly over the past 12 months to unravel the murky circumstances surrounding Jiah's death.

Whilst the service will remember and celebrate Jiah's life, it is also seen as an attempt to engage authorities in the UK and US - where Jiah was born - to assist in the on-going investigation into her death.

Jiah's apparent suicide was followed by a whirlwind of speculation as to her reasons, with some suggesting that the actress' struggles in Bollywood had led her to take her own life.

It was subsequently speculated that Jiah's troubled relationship with former boyfriend Suraj Pancholi was to blame.

Rabian Amin however, has maintained that her daughter had no reason to take her own life.

In an extensive interview with the UKAsian last year, she revealed that she had been "full of life" days before her death adding that there were numerous "inconsistencies" and delays in the police investigation.

The case is currently in the Mumbai High Court which has ordered a review of the initial police investigation.

"They are delaying to sabotage and compromise the crucial evidence. Jiah's mother's long fight for justice will not stop until truth is revealed," Rabbiya said.

Ms Amin has reportedly written to British Foreign Secretary William Hague to bring justice for her daughter.

She has previously approached US Ambassador to India Nancy Powell to request that the Federal Bureau of Investigation assist the investigation: US authorities have said they are reluctant to become involved in an ongoing investigation in another country.

Jiah was born as Nafisa Rizvi Khan in New York and moved with her mother to London when she was two-year-old.

When she was 17, she was offered a place on a drama course at the Lee Strasberg Film Institute in New York.

While on holiday as an 18-year-old in India, she was approached by Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma, who cast her as a teenager in love with her best friend's father - played by Amitabh Bachchan - in the 2007 film "Nishabd".

The memorial service takes place at 6 pm on Tuesday 03 June at Chelsea Town Hall.
