Shah Rukh receives Morocco's highest civilian honour

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' star Shah Rukh Khan has been awarded Morocco’s most prestigious civilian tribute, the royal Medal of Honour.

The Bollywood superstar was conferred the honour during the on-going Marrakech International Film Festival, which is celebrating 100 years of Hindi Cinema.

The Moroccan film industry, long inspired by films from former colonial master France, now draws extensively from Bollywood, which has become hugely popular in the country as well as across North Africa.

This year's Film Festival was attended by a string of high-profile Bollywood stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Sridevi.

The senior Bachchan is a previous recipient of the Medal of Honour of Morocco, awarded by the country's monarch King Mohammed.
