Suraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with the suicide of British Indian Bollywood actress Jiah Khan.
The younger Pancholi, an aspiring actor, was taken into custody this afternoon after a letter, apparently written by Khan, emerged online over the weekend.
In the six-page note, the 25-year-old accused Suraj Pancholi of "destroying" her life.
Khan was found hanged in her apartment in Mumbai by her family last week. Telephone records indicate that Khan had spoken to Pancholi minutes before commiting suicide.
The letter was reportedly found by her mother inside the apartment after the actress' last rites had been performed on Friday.
In it, the 'Nishabd' star says she was scared that Suraj - son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zareena Wahab - would hurt her "even more".
The letter, apparently found by her mother in their apartment, after Jiah’s last rites were performed, mentions that the actor was scared that Suraj would hurt her ‘even more’.
She says: "You tore my soul. I have no reason to breathe anymore. All I wanted was love. I did everything for you. I was working for us. But you were never my partner. My future is destroyed my happiness snatched away from me. I always wished the best for you, was ready to invest what little money I had in your betterment. You never appreciated my love, Kicked me in the face. I have no confidence or self esteem left, whatever talent whatever ambition you took it all away. You destroyed my life."
The letter also alludes to an aborted pregnancy and Suraj Pancholi's infidelities.
Whilst many - including filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma - claimed that the New York-born, London-raised actress had been "depressed" about her inability to find work in Bollywood, her family says that her troubled relationship with Pancholi had driven her to take her own life.
Mr Pancholi has refused to comment on his relationship with the actress.
