Akshay Kumar may be a self-confessed teetotaller, shunning the temptation of alcohol in the name of "maintaining his good looks", but that hasn't stopped a Gulf resort naming a full-blooded, alcoholic cocktail after the actor.
The Barr Al Jissah resort - part of the plush Shangri La brand - has come up with the concoction as an expression of gratitude to the actor for choosing the stunning property to shoot parts of his new gangster drama "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara" (OUATM2).
The cocktail - called the "Shoaibtini" after Kumar's character Shoaib in the film - is a heady combination of Absolut Vanilla infused with the coffee-based liqueur Tia Maria and Chocolate Liqueur and served with a dash of brown sugar, just in case anyone was under any illusions that the drink lacked a certain sweetness.
Nicolas Chammaa, the resort's resident manager, says wistfully: "The rich, robust and complex taste of the main ingredient Absolut Vanilla personifies the strong and rugged Shoaib while the sweet taste of Creme de Cacao (Chocolate Liqueur) touches on his soft romantic side."
The Gulf has long been a favourite location for Kumar who has filmed a number of films and songs in locations in and around the region.
Parts of OUATM2 were shot at the main Long Bar at the Barr Al Jissah resort which overlooks the Sea of Oman just outside the Omani capital Muscat.
The film, sequel to 2010's "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai", sees Kumar play mafia don Shoaib Khan, modeled on real-life gangster Dawood Ibrahim, who once called the Gulf Region home and is still said to have extensive investments there.
"Once Upon A Time in Dobara" is in cinemas 15th August.
