He may be widely considered a deity of sorts but Shah Rukh Khan might not quite be ‘King Khan’, at least for the time being.
SRK has been unseated at the top of this year’s Forbes India Celebrity 100 list of India’s most famous and wealthiest celebs by fellow Khan, Salman.
Salman’s been helped along by the fact that SRK hasn’t had a major release in the time period for which the survey was conducted which ended September 30, before SRK’s earnings from his last film ‘Happy New Year’ could be added to the pot.
Nevertheless, Salman topped the charts for both wealth and fame – a celeb’s ‘visibility’ across print, television and digital media as well as their Social Media presence.
Salman, whose two releases for the year – ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Kick’, raked in billions, topped the earnings table with a mammoth £24.5 million.
Second and third placed were the evergreen Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh, who both earned around the £20 million figure.
Intriguingly, cricketer Virat Kohli is ranked second in terms of fame – arguably due his burgeoning relationship with actress Anushka Sharma.
The dashing, 26-year-old batsman didn’t do too badly in the earnings department, banking nearly £6 million. Still, that was less than half of what his captain MS Dhoni earned – topping the sports charts with a massive £14 million.
Deepika Padukone was the highest ranked woman – and only one in the top ten – with earnings of nearly £7 million.
