Two pilots attached to Air India have been grounded after allegedly getting into a fracas inside the cockpit during a domestic flight.
The captain and his co-pilot began arguing soon after preparing for take-off on flight AI611 on Sunday from Jaipur to Delhi.
An Air India spokesman told the Times of India that both pilots had been “de-rostered” an inquiry launched into the incident.
According to reports, the co-pilot had become angry after he was instructed to record flight information including passenger numbers and fuel details.
"The co-pilot took offence at this and reportedly beat up the captain," the Times of India quoted a source as saying.
Air India however, insist that there had not been any violence inside the cockpit.
Remarkably, the captain continued with the flight and only informed his superiors when the flight landed in Delhi.
According to aviation experts, the flight would have been cancelled while it was in Jaipur had the incident been reported immediately.
Several pilots from the airline have told the Times of India that the co-pilot had been involved in previous altercations with colleagues.
