London played host on Tuesday (17 December) to an exclusive first overseas screening of a new film that explores the contentious issue of Kashmir. However, unlike the plethora of Indian films set in the beautiful yet troubled region, 'Identity Card' is a film about Kashmir; directed by Kashmiri writer-director Rahat Kazmi and starring the peerless Saurabh Shukla and newcomer Furqan Merchant. 'Barfi!' star Shukla hosted the screening and spoke at length about the importance of shedding balanced light on an issue that has plagued both India and Pakistan since partition; his lengthy and acclaimed career in cinema and independent filmmaking. Shukla also spoke exclusively to the UKAsian. The link is here.
